Besford Manor
Dating back to the 1500's, this manor was owned by the Harewell
family. It was then passed to the Sebrights family in 1606 and
later sold to Sir George John William Noble in 1910. In the hands
of Sir George, the court received a major overhaul with ?30,000
worth of construction added to the original manor. Unfortunately
the works were stopped in 1914 when Randall Wells eloped with Lady
Noble. This untimely event caused Sir George to sell the estate to
the Catholic Church who turned it into a school. The estate was run
as a boarding school until 1996 and after extensive planning
negotiations permission was obtained to develop the estate you see
today. The Court at this time was split into eight spacious
apartments making sure to keep as much character and history while
providing a high quality of living.
In 1965 the Court was listed as a grade II* listed building while
still being a Catholic reformatory, to date the listing remains
unchanged and the Estate is included within the List of Registered
and Locally Important Parks and Gardens in Worcestershire.
The Court is now managed via Commonhold of the residents in the
company named The Court (Besford), Management Ltd.
