" A fine period home, built in 1921 by a reputable local builder for his own occupation, in an era when craftsmanship was the order of the day. Our client has invested 30,000 hours of painstaking restoration and attention to detail to create what is today, an enchanting and traditional family home. It was later extended in 1990, very much in sympathy with the original design, with the addition of a 2 storey side extension utilising modern building technology combined with reclaimed windows and fireplaces to provide an authentic period look. This really is a home for all seasons; decorated for a traditional Christmas with roaring open fires then in the warmer months, swing open the French doors and windows to allow the breeze to cool the teak framed conservatory. As you enter the reception hall you will be swept back in time & intrigued by the numerous architectural details including the clock built in over the kitchen door and the small wine cellar set into the floor. Even the cloakroom has a bygone feel of an old railway carriage. Step into the front aspect living room that is cool in the summer and cosy on chilly winter's evenings with its open fireplace. Decorated in a traditional style complete with a piecrust light switch by the fireplace, secondary glazing to the original casement window to provide functionality whist keeping an authentic look. A bevelled glass door opens into a delightful dining room with its custom-made Art Nouveau fireplace and French doors into the hand made double-glazed teak framed conservatory with its leaded light panels, antique oak floor and automatic roof vents. The kitchen retains its two original larder cupboards matched with a further range of hand made units. Provision has been made for the usual appliances including a water softener. Finally, the "new room", which blends perfectly with the existing, being of a generous sized double aspect room with a magnificent polished Victorian oak fireplace, matching oak flooring, plate rail & to the rear is a lovely reclaimed oak casement window and a triple glazed bay to the front. The 1st floor holds a host of surprises with 3 bedrooms, dressing room and a sumptuous bathroom. The delightful master bedroom overlooks the garden and has an oak floor, ornamental fireplace and built-in furniture, including a deep chest of drawers and hidden wardrobe! The 2nd bedroom is fitted similarly to the main with the addition of a walk-in storage cupboard currently being used as a computer workstation. The 3rd bedroom also has a range of built-in furniture and there is a further dressing room off the landing. The huge & fabulously decadent bathroom is beautifully appointed with a period style 4 piece suite. Imagine soaking in the roll top bath with the flames flickering in the fireplace and the subdued light reflecting off the Rich Minton Hollins tiling. The Victorian basin is set in an oak and teak stand and a high flush WC and shower cubicle complete the package. "
