SITUATION Basset Vean is approached over an unmade lane and situated in a glorious countryside position with views over the surrounding rural landscape.

Well positioned between the rugged North Coast and the altogether softer south coast, Carnkie is a semi-rural village sitting on the south side of the lofty Carn Brea hill. This local landmark is topped by a distinctive monument to Francis Basset, Lord of Dunstanville, whose family played an important role in the mining industry for many centuries. This granite monument, which stands 30m high was erected in 1836 and is clearly visible from miles around.

The approach lane to Basset Vean also allows access to many walks through this architecturally interesting area where the remains of our mining heritage have been carefully retained and offer a glimpse into years gone by.

The local town of Redruth with wide and varied facilities is readily accessible whilst Falmouth and of course the Cathedral City of Truro are within driving distance. There is a mainline rail connection to London Paddington at Redruth and Truro together with regular domestic and international flights departing from Newquay airport.
