HOW TO FIND IT Drivers: turn from Station Road into Castle Street and turn first right into Collins Road, where Alpha Terrace is up steps above road level on the left. Pedestrians: From the top of High Street go down Castle Street and take the passage to the left of North Gate Lodge. Turn left at the bottom and Alpha Terrace is the first terrace on the left. TOTNES Totnes is known as an Elizabethan town but has much earlier origins with a castle, a wonderful position on the River Dart and a main line railway station for quick access to Paddington. The town has a well regarded community college, full range of shops, a weekly market and a wide choice of cultural facillites. The area is host to a variety of cultural, recreational and sporting pursuits. Dartmoor, the South Hams and the South Devon coastline are all within easy reach and both Exeter and Plymouth are within half an hour's drive.
