Prospect House is a private residential development of just 16 apartments and houses in a spectacular,
cliff-top location from which a truly stunning, panoramic seascape over Start Bay is enjoyed, encompassing
the Mewstone off Dartmouth to the east and sweeping around to the lighthouse at Start Point.
Set within beautiful, landscaped communal gardens which include a heated outdoor swimming pool and an
all-weather tennis court, Prospect House has been carefully restored and converted into striking apartments
and cottages from a former hotel.
It is close to Hallsands, a small village of only a handful of properties flanked by a Site of Special Scientific
Interest a veritable haven for wildlife and bird lovers. Lining the Eastern Coast of the South Hams, Start Bay
has a magnificent coastline of high, sweeping cliffs interspersed with long beaches and characterful fishing
villages with colour-washed cottages, cafes, shops and old-fashioned country pubs. Of particular interest
locally is the Slapton Ley and Line, a narrow strip of land, two miles long, separating the freshwater Ley and
the English Channel.
The South Devon Coastal footpath is close by and offers miles of glorious walks, with the highly-regarded
Cricket Inn at Beesands a 20 min walk away. It is within easy reach of both Kingsbridge and Dartmouth and
there are many beaches close by, including Lannacombe, Mattiscombe, Blackpool Sands and East
Portlemouth, from where one can catch the ferry to Salcombe. No 9 Prospect House offers stylish accommodation, detailed Bead and Butt wood panelling , bespoke
doors and wide architraves very much in the New England-style,with soft, sea-washed colour schemes,
soft carpeting light-wooden floors and understated fittings, to create an easy-living, fashionable lock up and
leave seaside home.
The property is accessed through the Prospect House main entrance a pair of part-glazed, double-opening
(entrance) doors which lead to an outer lobby and then in to the spacious, oak-floored communal entrance
hall.
From here, carpeted stairs rise to the second floor where a landing services No 9 and the adjoining apartment.
A large picture window over the stair well allows light to flood in and affords delightful, pastoral views of the
surrounding countryside.
The main living room area is stunning with sea and sky views all around. Measuring some 23 in length, it
is a triple aspect, open-plan room with a bay window and Juliet balcony to the southern aspect which
provides a beautiful view to the nearby Start Point lighthouse and sweeping cliffs. A wide, fully opening triple
window in the kitchen area (and two Velux windows) overlooks Start Bay whilst two further velux windows
complete the picture in every sense! with tranquil countryside views at the rear. To see both sea and
landscape in one room is very special
Once through the front door of the Penthouse, the long entrance hall is carpeted and has an alcove which
would be ideal for a small desk/Workstation etc.. The cupboard housing the hot water cylinder is also in the
entrance hall. All three of the bedrooms are doubles, with the two front-facing rooms enjoying stunning, panoramic views
over Start Bay. The master bedroom has its own en-suite shower room, wood panelled to the dado height
and fitted with a white, contemporary-style Laufen Pro suite which includes a double-sized shower cubicle,
and overlooks the whole Bay!
Bedroom 3 has double opening windows and a Juliet balcony, from where a 180 degree view is enjoyed not
just over the surrounding rural countryside but also encompassing the beaches up the coast at Beesands and
Torcross.
The family shower room also has a contemporary-style Laufen Pro suite in white and a Velux window which
makes it a veritable loo with a view!
The kitchen area is well-fitted with a range of Bespoke Shaker-style, hand-painted units with generous black-granite work surfaces and in-built appliances including oven and hob, upright fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher and microwave oven.
