" ‘The Slade’ is one of the more historic parts of Tonbridge. It is a conservation area, which means you can't change the way that the overall area looks and any extension or newly built properties all have to be done sympathetically and in keeping with its neighbours. It has an almost village like feel to it. It is surrounded by countryside and Tonbridge castle grounds; all of which give it a more rural feel. There is a well renowned primary school and also a long established Residents Association, which all adds to the community feel. All of this is only a few hundred yards from the local swimming pool and leisure facilities, Tonbridge castle and the main High Street and also less than half a mile away is the mainline train station with a fast service into London - all this has made The Slade a very desirable place to live! The house itself is larger than others you will find in a similar price bracket. There are two separate reception rooms and a pretty good size kitchen too - great space for entertaining and helping you keep everything separated. Upstairs there are two big double bedrooms and a bathroom, which used to be the third double bedroom! There is still more as the owner put in a staircase to the loft, making it much more accessible. It has been plaster boarded and carpeted, so that it could be used as a guest bedroom when needed.

What the Owner says:

I was really attracted to this house because of its secluded quiet spot at the top of Homelands Road. The house was really spacious compared to others that we had seen. It needed an awful lot of work back then, the only thing in here was a Belfast sink! We fitted a gas central heating boiler, took care of the electrics and redid the damp proof course, fitted a kitchen and put a bathroom in upstairs. I did the garden for myself. It's Chinese bamboo with a waterfall feature over a statue of a Buddha which then falls into a fish pound. At the back of the garden there is decking, but this could be taken up and changed to a hard standing space for a car.
