" A magnificent stone built Jacobean with Georgian additions, Grade I listed mansion house that has been delightfully converted to provide 18 individual apartments within a country park setting on the Earl of Suffolk and Berkshire's estate. Originally built for the Earl of Suffolk in 1607, the main entrance is through the open cloisters to a double oak front door leading into the panelled hallway. Beyond is the Great Hall with superb plasterwork to the walls, apses and domes. Double doors lead off the Great Hall into the handsomely decorated Saloon or Drawing Room with outstanding plasterwork attributed to James Wyatt. Both rooms are available to residents and their guests for entertaining purposes. Apartment 12a is approached either by staircase or lift from the panelled hallway and forms a very secure and elegant apartment arranged over 2 floors, formed from the central section of the original Jacobean Long Gallery with its wonderful full height Oriel window located above the open cloisters. The apartment benefits from exposed oak floorboards within the hall, dining room and drawing room which also enjoys oak panelling, a superb Jacobean chimneypiece, currently used by the owners as an open fire, with an intricately carved stone surround and steps up into the Oriel windows which provides a lovely second seating area with fantastic southerly views over the park land. Ornate Jacobean plaster work ceilings can be found to the first floor bedrooms and landing which also features former stone mullion windows with mellow brick insets which would have originally looked out on to the central courtyard from the Long Gallery. Further benefits include a modern fitted kitchen with integrated Neff appliances including hob, steam oven and fan oven with warming drawer, modern cloakroom and an updated en suite shower room to the master bedroom which also enjoys views through the Oriel window and is galleried to the Drawing room below. On the first floor of this apartment there are also two further bedrooms, both enjoying far reaching southerly views and a bathroom with shower cubicle.
