" Old Bowling Forge is situated in the heart of the village close to the Parish Church and overlooking the Village Green. The origins of this pretty Grade II Listed cottage are believed to date back to the late 16th century, but there were later additions in the 19th century and most recently in 2002. The original building is part timber framed with rendered elevations under a thatched roof, the rear extension is tiled. Inside the cottage there are many period features including exposed timbers and an open fireplace in the sitting room. From Bishop?s Stortford proceed west on the A120 and join the A10, heading north towards Buntingford. On the southern outskirts of Buntingford turn left along the by-pass and at the next roundabout, adjacent to a filling station, turn left on the A507 towards Cottered. In the middle of the village take the left turn to Walkern and after about 150 metres turn right along a small tarmacadam lane at the top end of the Green. Old Bowling Forge is the second property along on the left hand side. "
