This pretty Edwardian home sits in a purpose built terrace, constructed in the early 1900's as apartments for nurses and policemen. Each dwelling has its own street entrance which is a bonus for those tired of scruffy communal hallways. Find it extremely close to the superb travel facilities on offer and a myriad of buses travelling along the High Street and into London. Denmark Hill station is a ten minute walk and will get you to London Bridge, Victoria or Blackfriars in a jiffy, with the proposed East London Line extension planned for 2012. Pretty good so far?

In the hallway take a left to enter the master bedroom, which is a perfectly sized double room with large windows to the front and a creamy carpet underfoot (fret not, the hedge to the front garden provides welcome privacy from the street). Just behind, the hallway dissolves into a brilliantly sized reception, with an ever-so handy cupboard and wood effect flooring. French doors invite you to a small patio that opens to the wrap around garden. There is an accent wall in chocolate brown with an exposed brick fireplace too. Heading toward the rear of the flat, you'll reach a simple (but adequately sized) bathroom with classic white suite and matching tiles. The eat-in kitchen is fitted with modern white units and allows plenty of space for dining and entertaining your friends; a door here also leads to the garden. Bedroom two is painted in pastel blue and makes an easy double with pretty garden views.

This is a quiet spot behind the hospital yet it's only minutes away from Camberwell's shops, bars and restaurants. At the end of the road is The Sun & Doves, one of the best gourmet pubs in the area which attracts a very trendy crowd at the weekends but is also a great place to chill out over Sunday lunch. Denmark Hill mainline station is just five minutes away on foot for regular services to Victoria, Blackfriars and London Bridge. Alternatively, pick up one of the many buses into the City and the West End - the 185 and 176 go to Victoria and Oxford Circus while the 40 (on Denmark Hill) and the 35 from the bottom of the road go to the City. Nearby is Ruskin Park for green spaces, beautiful Daffodils in the Spring and tennis courts.
