Location:
Blandings was one of the last houses built by the noted Gosport builder, G V Northcott, in the interwar years.  It harks back to the period in which his clients would have grown up, and has elements taken from Edwardian style.  It even has a servants bell system, of which the front door and main bathroom are still functional.  The present owners are only the third since 1946 and have brought up the property up to modern requirements whilst retaining the features of its period.  It is a house that is very light, with many of the principal rooms being dual aspect to take advantage of its corner plot position.  It benefits from gas central heating, and is fully double glazed, with white aluminium framed units in oak frames with mullions.  The ground floor rooms are nearly all original herringbone parquet, oak in the hall, dining room and sitting room and pine elsewhere, there are deep plaster cornices, and the high ceilings and large windows add to the feeling of light and space which marks the house.

Directions:
From Gosport Ferry Gardens leave via South Street entering the one way system at Foster Road.  Follow the road around to the left and at the traffic lights turn left into The Avenue where Blandings can be found on the right hand side on the corner of Bury Hall Lane.
