" The magic of this impressive property quickly unfolds as one approaches on its winding 1/3 of a mile driveway; west, beyond rolling fields, a breathtaking panorama stretches to the distant tops of Cornwalln++s Bodmin Moor. The serenity continues through an arch of trees to reveal an imposing slate-clad rural retreat rising in seclusion among the oaks and firs.

Built in 1855, THE OLD MINE HOUSE was a joint residence for the Mine Captain and his Manager, of Sortridge Consols copper mine. South facing, the spacious assortment of rooms offers various flexible options to a new owner. Victorian influences abound and indulge characteristic high ceilings, sash windows, and original fireplaces throughout. The house was extensively renovated in 1994, costing n++140,000, to include full rewiring, new roof, and installation of oil-fired central heating. However, 18 years on, scope exists for some updating and repairs, and the introduction of a few contemporary improvements. With some 3,000 sq. feet formerly comprising two homes, this secluded country dwelling affords versatility such as demonstrated by the current owner in its role as venue for courses and gatherings, sleeping up to 20 people. The grand house sits in 9 varied acres of Dartmoor National Park, embracing a species-rich hay meadow, large ponds, discreet paddock, rambling bluebell woods and sheltered rear garden n++ much of this is a designated County Wildlife Site for its rich flora and fauna.

Complementing further is an array of rustic out-buildings n++ a stonebuilt piggery, stables, and traditional smithy, all craftsman restored in 2006 under DEFRA guidance. A discreet local footpath traverses the property, continuing through quiet woodlands to access nearby Horrabridge village or rugged National Park moorland within minutes.
