" This is a property that would've made Queen Anne proud to have been built during her reign. Dating back to 1702, this wonderful Grade II listed home has now become available. Spread over three floors, this property has evolved over the years and is bursting with original features and is offered for sale chain free. Prior to being owned by our current vendors for the past 41 years, this property used to be a doctor's surgery - there is a great amount of history behind it indeed. The property sits on a generous sized plot in a prime position within the market town of Downham Market, with good links to Cambridge and London. This is a property we don't expect to be available for long.

As you approach the property, it clearly stands out from all other properties available out there. The main front door opens into the reception hall which gives access to main reception rooms. To the left hand side a door opens into a superb sitting room with large dual aspect windows and an open fireplace - this room feels grand and bright throughout. To the right hand side is the formal dining room to the front of the property and to rear a great sized office. Off the dining room another door leads to the second hall, this would likely have been the entrance for the servants with their own set of stairs leading to the top floor and with a further door leading to the kitchen/breakfast room. The kitchen design is very retro but nonetheless of a very good size. With base and wall units and a substantial kitchen island this is a kitchen with plenty of potential. Off the kitchen there is a shower room and a good-sized utility room with a further walk-in pantry.

The first floor landing could be seen as two - the main sleeping quarters and the servants sleeping area. The main landing gives access to three double bedrooms and the family bathroom. The second landing, which can also be accessed through bedroom three, gives access to a further double bedroom and a bathroom. The current set up is ideal should someone want to move in with their parents/siblings for that matter. From the main landing, another door leads to the top floor which gives access to two further double bedrooms and a spacious landing/office area.

The outside space is as generous as the property itself. A beautiful Grade II listed wall surrounds the entire garden and provides all the privacy that a property such as this one needs. The front garden is of very low maintenance, all laid to gravel and surrounded by a chain link fence. A driveway by the side of the property leads to a carport and further off street parking. There are a number of outbuildings available for further storage, the most significant one being the current library which has power and lighting. Should there be the need for a further annexe then this could be the property you've been looking for as this space would be ideal (subject to relevant planning permissions and consents). An iron gate leads to the main garden which is all of very low maintenance, mostly lawned and surrounded by mature trees and shrubs, flower beds and the most beautiful walled fence surround. Along the full length of the property there is a gravelled area, the ideal space to allow you to dine alfresco.

This is definitely a house upon which you will be able to put your own stamp on and really go to market with this stunning and characterful property.
