At long last the discerning purchaser has a real choice with the
arrival of the B listed 'East Lindores' to the market. A historical
landmark in Greenock?s West end this property subtly infuses a
marriage of contemporary modern executive living with the luxuriant
grandeur of an opulent bygone era.
Originally built by a member of the Lyle family the mansion
subsequently changed ownership and was utilised as a Red Cross
Hospital during World War 1 and in World War 2 the 'Canadian Wrens'
were billeted there.
The unique selling points to this property are simply too numerous
to mention and it clearly stands head and shoulders above any other
conversion currently on the market.
The property to all intents and purposes forms the upper conversion
of this stately gem with work being completed to form the current
accommodation around 1961.
The entrance to this property is to the side of the building where
you are immediately struck by the imposing turreted structure which
dominates the skyline and importantly forms part of the
accommodation within. The elongated entrance vestibule is of modern
decor and has solid oak flooring which is in stark contrast to the
opulence of the main reception hallway which transcends generations
with its dark wood finishes and the magnificent four paned stained
glass window feature. The glass work is in excellent condition and
has two portraits of young ladies of whom you would love to imagine
have some significance in the buildings history.
The main lounge has aspects to the Estuary and exudes a
contemporary feel with its minimalist presentation and triple
window formation allowing natural sunlight from contrasting aspects
of the room. There is a working open fire set within ornate tiled
and wooden surround which as you may imagine in the darkest
recesses of a Greenock winter creates an ambience only flame licked
wood or peat can provide. The dining room is well proportioned and
ideally could lend itself to a number of uses depending on the
needs of the purchaser. This room also benefits from aspects to the
Estuary. The breakfasting kitchen is very modern and would not look
out of place in a new build executive villa except for the all
important ceiling mounted 'Pulley' , a must in todays modern family
living. The kitchen has built in breakfast bar, integrated gas hob,
electric oven, extractor hood and ample floor and wall mounted
storage units.
The bay windowed master bedroom truly is a must see for sheer size
and the quality of in built wardrobe furniture which runs the width
of the room yet does not impinge upon the scale of the
accommodation. Yet again we have a subtle blend of discerning taste
as is evident when you step into the contemporary en-suite which is
beautifully finished to an exacting standard with wc and 'waterfall
taps' adorning both the sink and bath. There is a double window
formation and a large walk in shower cubicle with wall mounted
shower.
The lower level is completed with 2 cupboard storage areas and a
family shower room which includes large walk in shower, white 2
piece suite, 4 x halogen ceiling spots and tile effect
flooring.
The upper level it is suggested was the domain of the original
mansions servants quarters however this in no way detracts from the
spacious modern feel to bedroom 2 which is set to the rear of the
conversion and enjoys aspects to the Estuary. Bedroom 3 is
contained within the turreted construction of the building and
enjoys an abundance of natural light from the triple window
formation.
For those of us that may be anxious about storage solutions then
fret no more as door access on the upper hallway leads to a floored
storage area in excess of 13 meters in length and 5 meters in
width!!
The exterior of the property has off street parking for two
vehicles, a private garden laid mainly to lawn with slabbed patio
area.
The property has gas central heating and is partially double
glazed.
Sometimes in life you just need to seize the moment and this may
well for you be that time, carpe diem!!!!
