" Charming Victorian house with masses of character, 3 bedrooms, garage/ office and parking on a quiet lane in this lovely village

Charming Victorian house with masses of character, 3 bedrooms, garage/ office & parking on a quiet village lane Islip dates from Saxon times, with mentions in the Domesday book at which time there was already a water mill on the river ray which runs through the village. It is also the birthplace of Edward the Confessor, and during the Civil War Cromwell defeated the Queens Regiment on the bridge below The Old Rectory. Today Islip is immensely popular for many reasons These include an exceptional school, Dr South's, which is over 300 years old; several popular pubs, a community shop and a village hall; a rail station with easy access to Oxford (4 miles by road) and London; plus many lovely local walks amidst open countryside. 3 Church Lane is a characterful semi detached house set in a small side road. Built in Victorian times it was originally built as accommodation for the Chapel next door, becoming a private house in the 20th century. The owners have upgraded a number of items over recent years including a new, high quality bathroom and a garage conversion to provide The location is ideal, tucked away from any traffic but still a short walk from all Islip's amenities and just a few minutes' drive from main road access including A34 and M40. The front doorway is reached via a couple of steps up to an open porch with pretty brick arch overhead, the door has lovely stained glass and Victorian furniture. This opens into a pretty, long hallway with stairs off to the rear and there is a store cupboard just inside to the right. On the left the living room is delightful, light and airy due to the large front window, and its features include an original open fireplace and a wood floor. At the rear of the hall the kitchen is unusually large for the type of house. A range of wall and base units provide plenty of storage space but in addition there is a large understairs cupboard with power and light. The floor is beautifully tiled with slate and a further attractive feature is the old fireplace aperture to the side complete with original timber lintel. Upstairs all three bedrooms are attractive and light. Any of the three will take a double bed if required, all have exposed timber floors, and the ceilings are quite high hence there is a good feeling of space. The master room overlooks the garden to the rear and faces East. The second bedroom faces West and has a lovely large window overlooking the attractive garden to the property opposite. Serving all three the bathroom has been comprehensively refitted with full tiling to the floor and walls, a modern suite has been fitted to include a circular basin with mixer on a vanity unit and a deep roll top bath. Outside, unusually for a village house there is both driveway parking (in addition to ample on-street with no restrictions) and a detached garage. The garage has, however, been the subject of a conversion to provide a working office/ studio - this has a tiled floor, power and light plus double glazed sliding doors to the side. As the garden is raised to the rear (being on a hill) it has been remodelled with decking throughout for ease of use, it now provides a wonderful sun trap space which also looks out across the roofs to the side. At the rear a sizeable shed provides storage. Mains water, gas, electric
