About Watlington
Reputedly England's smallest town, Watlington nestles at the foot of the Chiltern Hills in South Oxfordshire, one of the country's most beautiful landscapes. It is a very pretty town whose character is protected by a conservation area, about 2.5 miles from junction 6 of the M40 and around a twenty minute drive to Princes Risborough station. The town probably dates from the 6th century and the current medieval street plan has been in existence since at least the 14th century. The town has a selection of specialist shops, pubs and small businesses. Much of The Midsomer Murders series was filmed in and around Watlington and both the Icknield way and the Oxfordshire way footpaths pass within half a mile of the town.
