" An immaculate modern house built in a traditional style with wonderful detailing, overlooking fields and in stunning order throughout. Large kitchen/ breakfast room, pretty fireplace, three beds (one en-suite), garage & charming garden. Popular village just a couple of miles from Bicester, mainline rail and M40/ A34.

This house is conclusive proof that modern buildings can be stylish, characterful and just as appealing as a traditional cottage - without the hassle. Merton has the distinction of being just a few miles from all the road and rail routes, amenities, schools, and shopping of Bicester and Oxford, with the niceties of a small village consisting mainly of pleasant 20th century and older houses with just the odd thatched cottage. It's pleasantly surrounded by farmland, ensuring great local walks in abundance. Within the village is a lovely church, St Swithuns, dating to the 15th century. Piper's Mead is a relatively new development of just a few houses, sat well away from the main street behind a generous gravelled driveway. Number 1 sits in the left corner, with a back garden of some length, which has a stunning and far reaching view of fields. It is a traditional design, with lovely touches such as cantilever brick lintels above windows and pretty gable detailing. Once inside, the house feels calm and warm, with a sensitive use of timber from the bannisters to the sitting room floor. The flow is also particularly good, with the cloak room just inside the door opposite the sitting room, and the kitchen occupying the whole width of the rear so that the 'day space' enjoys the best view. The condition is also excellent, having been improved constantly by our clients. The porch opens into long hallway with a wood floor, off to the side of which is an elegant stairway. On the left is a modern cloak room, presented immaculately and decorated in a soft pastel shade. Opposite, the living room is a delightful space. The first impression is of good style mixed with coziness. The central focus of the red brick fireplace is a treat, set into which there is a wood burning stove. The wooden floor and window sill are lovely little touches that contrast beautifully with the light decor. To the end of the hall, the kitchen is a pleasant surprise. Units running down the left and rear walls culminate in a peninsular with breakfast bar, providing masses of storage and work surface with modern cream units topped off with wooden work surfaces with fully integrated appliances. This set up integrates perfectly with the dining area. It can accommodate a table and 6 chairs with ease, and sits directly in front of glazed double doors behind which is the terrace, lawn, and endless view of fields beyond. Completing the downstairs is a utility room to the side, in which there is plumbing for the washing machine and tumble dryer alongside yet more storage cupboards. With a separate door to the garden, this would also make the ideal boot room / dogs' lobby. Upstairs, the immediate picture is of an elegant landing that is well lit due to the side window. At the front of the house are two bedrooms, the first a generous single that could accommodate a double bed is required, but is more likely a child's room or study. The second is a good double, with ample room for a chest, wardrobe etc. To the rear of the house, the master bedroom gets the best space and view, with a large window looking out across the fields and providing great light from the South. The dimensions are such that a generous suite can be accommodated, especially as there is a double wardrobe fitted in the alcove. Serving this room is a modern en-suite shower room that is attractive and immaculate. In addition, the family bathroom follows a similar theme, immaculate, neutral and modern. Outside, the frontage needs explaining. The garage block of two provides one for each of the semis. 'Our' garage is on the right, directly outside the house with ample parking for two cars in front of it and a further space is provided by additional land down the left side of the garage block, if required. The garage is equipped with power and light, making it practical for all uses, and the pitched roof provides excellent storage. At the rear of the house, the garden is lengthy and mainly laid to lawn. A paved terrace runs the full width behind the house, providing wonderful seating and entertaining space. To both sides of the garden, low planters contain a wide range of plants, some flowering, and towards the bottom a large horse chestnut tree frames the view out across hundreds of acres of farmland.
