Location

Whittingham is a small rural village located approximately eight miles north of the historic market town of Alnwick to which it enjoys a bus service. It has a village hall and small primary school, the village of Glanton nearby has a small convenience store and public house, a wider range of services and facilities can be found in Alnwick which offers a varied selection of shops, schools and medical services. The east coast main line train station is a further five miles south in Alnmouth.

This charming stone built cottage is located in the heart of the village. Set within a conservation area, the property retains many period style features and characteristics one would hope to see in a property of this age. With beamed ceilings throughout the ground floor and an open fireplace to the lounge. Entering the property to the front elevation via a small lobby which opens into the lounge which has period style double glazed sash windows to both front and rear and exposed stone chimney breast with working open fireplace and wood flooring. The kitchen is fitted with a comprehensive range of matching cream coloured wall and base units with complementing wooden work surfaces with a Belfast sink, the kitchen is also fitted with integrated appliances to include dishwasher, refrigerator and freezer, there are also French doors which open onto the rear garden. At the other side of the ground floor there is a family bathroom which is fitted with a white suite with over bath mains fed shower, there is also a bedroom to the ground floor which has double glazed windows to the front and rear. To the first floor there are two bedrooms and a study as well as an en-suite bathroom. All of the upstairs rooms have been built into the roof space and have restricted head height. Undoubtedly the most attractive feature of this charming property is the rear garden with terraced seating area and rolling lawns down to the river in which salmon and trout can be regularly seen. There are also a small vegetable patch, to the side of the property there is also a stone built outhouse which has mains electricity and houses the central heating boiler, there is also off street parking.

Travelling West out of Alnwick town centre via Clayport Bank on the B6341 after approximately six miles at the junction with the A697 turn right and travel north for approximately seven miles turning left at the Bridge of Aln public house signposted Whittingham/Callaly follow the road into the village crossing over the bridge and following the road to the left Vergers Cottage can be found approximately 200 yards on the left hand side.
