From Slater Hogg & Howison's office on Main Street, Largs proceed southbound onto the Irvine Road and leave the town. Pass through the village of Fairlie and head on towards Seamill and West Kilbride. On entering Seamill proceed along Snowden Terrace and onto Ardrossan Road. Pass Chapelton Lane on your left and 'The Fort 56B' is on your left hand side, turn in and proceed ahead down towards the burn rather than up to your right and Fort Cottage faces you. ?+? Fort Cottage is believed to date back to the late eighteenth century and was originally a coach house for the nearby detached stone residence on the hill above.
