Godalming richly deserves its reputation as one of Surrey 's most popular places to live. It is a picturesque town with a good range of boutique shops, supermarkets, coffee shops, restaurants and country pubs. Guildford is just 5.4 miles away, offering extensive further shopping with many famous high street names and department stores, a theatre as well as many other leisure amenities.

Godalming's history dates back to the Saxon times when it was called 'Godhelm' but one of its main claims to fame is as the first town to have its streets lit by electric light in September 1881. In the heart of the town is this cobbled high street with its iconic and quirky 'Pepperpot' originally built as the Town Hall in 1814. The town's centre is dotted with narrow attractive streets punctuated with ancient and historic buildings which give the town its distinctive character. Godalming also enjoys close proximity to the countryside; the River Wey lies to one side of the town providing lovely walks along the tow path and it is surrounded by numerous 'chocolate box' villages with great village pubs, areas of outstanding natural beauty, the South Downs and numerous golf courses.
