Undoubtedly one of the most renown properties in one of the most
iconic villages in the whole of the north Cotswold's situated on
the approach to Blockley village, this early 17th century, grade II
listed, three storey, eight bedroom property is currently being run
as a highly successful private hotel with six en suite letting
rooms and separate owners accommodation. Lower Brook House has held
a 5 star status from the AA for ten years and is also featured in a
number of prestigious guides including the Good Hotel Guide,
Johansens, Sawdays and Michelin.
Full of the innate character and charm of the Jacobean period the
property has three main reception areas which blend together into a
very relaxing ambience and which incorporate stone flagged floors,
exposed stone walls, a substantial inglenook fireplace in the
residents lounge, wattle and daub style walls and a spaciousness
which is accentuated by the 10ft high ceilings. Enhanced and
embellished by the present owners over the last ten years, more
contemporary refinements of the property include a state of the art
professional stainless steel kitchen and each of the bedrooms has
been developed to a high level, most of which enjoy outstanding
views in a southerly direction from small paned mullioned windows
over the gardens and surrounding countryside. Each of the bedrooms
has its own en suite facilities with three or four piece suites and
each individually decorated with good use of colour schemes and
soft furnishings.
Externally guests to the property arrive to an enclosed car park
suitable for around six vehicles and then proceed through an
archway of mature foliage to, what has become, a particularly
private south facing garden with patio areas suitable for al fresco
dining in the summer time.
As a private hotel the property is up to date with fire regulations
and has a substantial turnover and net profit with accounts that
can be made available to bono fide enquiries. As a private home,
the property is surrounded by many other similarly aged properties
in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Blockley village has two
public houses, two hotels (of which this is one), a highly
successful community run village store and part time post office, a
nursery, primary school and the village is within the catchment for
Chipping Campden School. The village is positioned midway between
the Cotswold cafe society of Chipping Campden and the more
traditional market town of Moreton in Marsh where there are direct
rail links to Oxford and London Paddington.
