DIRECTIONS Leaving Bourton-on-the-Water with the river on your right, continue along the Rissington Road. Turn left into Rye Close, which leads to Lamberts Field. Spanned by low arched bridges and flanked by wide village greens, the River Windrush is the focal point of Bourton, which is why the village is often referred to as 'the Venice of the Cotswolds'. The village also offers a variety of day-to-day shopping amenities, restaurants, cafes, doctors surgery and dentists. There is a primary school and a secondary school, and varied sporting activities are offered in the village as well.
