SITUATION
The village of Whitstone has its own Post Office/General Stores, Places of Worship, Primary School and Nursing Home.  Conveniently located between the North Cornish coastal resort of Bude, the thriving market town of Holsworthy and the ancient capital of Cornwall Launceston, all about 9 miles distant.  Holsworthy has a wide range of facilities including supermarket, butchers, newsagents, banks, post office, dentist, doctors, cottage hospital, vet, places of worship, leisure centre with heated indoor swimming pool and an 18 hole golf course.  Bude boasts the spectacular and dramatic north Cornish coastline, much of which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and provides many sandy beaches with a variety of watersports available.  There are Nursery, Primary and Secondary schools at Holsworthy with Primary Schools also at North Petherwin and Jacobstow, being 4 miles and 6 miles respectively.  There is an excellent preparatory school in Bude and a daily bus service to Shebbear College.  A more comprehensive range of recreational and shopping facilities are available in Launceston.  The cathedral city and county town of Exeter is about 50 miles to the east.
