" DESCRIPTION:
We are privileged as the owner's sole agents to offer the Grade II listed property Venn Ottery Barton to the market. Venn Ottery Barton is the largest surviving building in the village of Venn Ottery. (The word 'Barton' is of Anglo Saxon origin and means corn farm or manor farm.) Venn Ottery Barton was built in about 1530 during the reign of Henry VIII probably by a yeoman farmer. From the 1970s to the 1990s this was a 17 bedroom country hotel; change of use allowed conversion by the current owners into the main house comprising 10 bedrooms, 8 bath/shower rooms, kitchen, 4 reception rooms and a conservatory. The main house could be divided to create an annexe (subject to the necessary planning consent)There are as well two rental cottages. There is also a detached 30' x 17' two storey barn which could be converted into two further holiday units subject to planning permission.


LOCATION:
The hamlet of Venn Ottery is a tranquil East Devon rural location in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with many countryside walks on the doorstep, yet only 5 miles from the coast. The house is adjacent to the village green and Saxon Church. Close by is Tipton St John which has a Primary School, village shop, garage, public house, playing field, tennis and cricket club as well as an amateur dramatics society.
