Claysmore Cottage is a most attractive period property believed to have been constructed in the early 1800s with parts thought to date back to the 17th Century. The property retains many period features including leaded and stained light windows, period fireplaces etc.

Historical note: The area of Clay Hill is reputed to have close association with the legend of Dick Turpin, a well known English highwayman, who was believed to frequent the Rose and Crown Public House on Clay Hill and to have an Aunt reputed to live less than a quarter of a mile away, and who housed his spare horses and various disguises.
