SITUATION:  The land in which Downe Hall is set has been registered by English Heritage with the Historic Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England.  The gardens to the south are for the use of the residents of the Hall.  Downe Hall is situated fairly close to the centre of Bridport which is an active market town set in an area designated as of outstanding natural beauty.  Bridport has a comprehensive range of shopping facilities, together with a twice-weekly street market, professional services, primary and secondary schools, recreational and social amenities and a well equipped leisure centre with an indoor swimming pool.

The pretty harbour at West Bay lies some 2 miles to the south where there is also an 18-hole golf course and a choice of walks over National Trust land along the cliff tops, with this part of the coast now enjoying World Heritage Status.

Dorchester, the County Town of Dorset, lies about 15 miles to the east where there is a main line rail service to London, Waterloo.

THE PROPERTY:  Downe Hall is a Grade II* Listed mansion being of architectural and historic importance, built in 1789 and extensively remodelled in 1893.  The Hall stands on the elevated ground of Coneygar Hill and has extensive views to West Bay and the sea beyond.
