The Area

Cotherstone
Cotherstone is a much favoured Teesdale village supporting a traditional range of amenities including post office/stores, two public houses, Church, Chapel and primary school. It has two village greens and comprises an interesting variety of houses and cottages.

The nearby historic town of Barnard Castle provides a broader range of shopping, educational and recreational facilities and is often referred to as the gateway to Teesdale. There are many renowned beauty spots close at hand, beyond which can be found the delights of North Yorkshire, Weardale, the Lake District, Northumberland and the East Coast.

For the commuter the A66, A67 and A1 (M) provide links with the major commercial centres of the North East. Darlington Mainline Railway Station and Durham Tees Valley International Airport offer further communications with the rest of the country.
