The Area

Middleton in Teesdale is a large village supporting a range of amenities including numerous shops, public houses, primary school, church and doctors surgery. It lies 11 miles from the historic market town of Barnard Castle which provides a broader range of shopping, educational and recreational amenities.

For the commuter the A66, A67 and A1 (M) provide links with the major commercial centres of the North East. Darlington Mainline Railway Station and Durham Tees Valley International Airport offer further communications with the rest of the country. Many of the attractions of Teesdale can be found within a short drive beyond which can be found the delights of North Yorkshire, Weardale, the Lake District, Northumberland and the East Coast.

The Property

4 Town Head is a detached stone built cottage which dates back to the 17th century. Formally the miners shop, the property was converted to 4 cottages and then to its current state offering deceptively spacious accommodation with a wealth of character features. The property has been well maintained benefiting from new sympathetically fitted UPVC double glazing and oil fired central heating throughout.

The covered UPVC entrance door leads into the spacious entrance hall which has doors leading off to the downstairs WC, utility room and living room.

The utility room is fitted with a range of solid wooden storage units with ceramic sink, plumbing for a washing machine and integrated under counter refrigerator and freezer.

The spacious living room has a wealth of original features with beam and board ceiling, stone fireplace which houses a multi fuel stove. An open archway from the living room leads into the dining room which has parquet flooring and a brick fireplace which houses the central heating boiler. A double glazed door leads to the garden and step down leads into the kitchen.

The kitchen offers a range of base and wall mounted units with vinyl sink, built in electric hob, oven and microwave. A tiled fireplace houses a small Rayburn which can be used in addition to the central heating. There are windows to two sides overlooking the rear of the property and the private garden to the side.

From the kitchen a door leads into the rear entrance hall where there are stairs up to the first floor and a further door into the glazed rear porch.

To the first floor there are three double bedrooms, spacious house bathroom and useful storage/airing cupboards.

The master bedroom is a generous double room which has the benefit of an en suite shower room. This room lies to the rear of the property and enjoys views over the neighbouring fields. The second and third bedrooms are also spacious double rooms with windows to the side which overlook the garden.

A family bathroom is partially tiled and fitted with a white suite which includes a bath, walk in shower cubicle, WC and wash hand basin.

From the centre of Barnard Castle proceed out of town past the golf course, over Folly Top and through Eggleston. Proceed into Middleton continuing through the main part of the village bearing off to the right, just after the Teesdale Hotel (sign posted Stanhope). Proceed up Town Head. The subject property will then be seen set back on the right hand side and can be accessed by the private driveway.
