The village has a village hall and active parish council and an annual market and well dressing. The small C of E church holds monthly services and is licensed for weddings and christenings. There is a primary school in Youlgrave and highly rated Lady manners school in Bakewell, both served by local buses. Full Description Yew Tree Cottage is a Grade II listed building in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Believed to date from the 17th Century it was originally a long barn and was carefully converted 30 years ago. The revealed oak beams are all original, as is the tiny fireplace in the bedroom and the cupboard next to the downstairs fireplace. The oak staircase was made from floorboards rescued from a local cottage, and the fireplace lintel was once the doorstep of a pub! After heading up a steep hill through Middleton and back down through a wooded valley, take the right turn at the bottom of the hill and immediately left onto the Via Gellia, the B5012, heading towards Grangemill. At the Grangemill cross roads, take a right turn onto the B5056, heading towards Winster. Continue on the B5056. Continue past turn offs for Winster and Birchover. At the next junction of the B5056, take a left turn, signed Ashbourne and Youlgrave. You will pass through tiny Alport, then through Youlgrave. Continue on this road for approximately 1 ? miles beyond Youlgrave until you reach Middleton by Youlgrave and Yew Tree Cottage on your right. (Distance approximately 11 miles from our office).
