Platts Hall is a half timbered manor house dating back to 1631, was once a farmhouse falling to rack and ruin surrounded by fields in Lostock, near Northwich. Shortly after 1885 it was sold to Brunner Mond & Co and the farm was a development for a chemical plant which exists today. However in 1998 the respected developers PJ Livesey Heritage Group in association with Lancaster University Archaeology Unit, have relocated this fine home beam by beam, piece by piece, to its new home in the grounds of the magnificent Bostock Hall Estate. Bostock Hall is collectively a conversion of a wonderful listed country mansion house in the heart of rural Cheshire being set within approximately 14 acres of conservation parkland, woodland, gardens and ornamental lake. The Hall itself was once a county retreat of the France Heyhurst family and at this time in the 19th Century the Estate was maintained by no less than 105 staff. Amongst the Estate there has now been a quite superb conversion of original buildings, providing a quite stunning and magical environment.
LOCATION
Bostock is a small semi-rural Parish situated within the heart of Cheshire's finest open countryside, yet it is by no means isolated and within easy travelling distance of local shops at Davenham Village, Northwich and Knutsford town centre. For the commuter, the northwest motorway network is readily available providing a gateway to the North and South, along with Manchester International Airport and nearby railway Station. Excellent education facilities cater for children of most ages in both the State and Private Sectors. Nearby Leisure Centres provide for most sporting activities and there are numerous private sporting clubs and notable golf courses in the area.
DIRECTIONS
From Canute Square follow the Northwich Road out of Knutsford until reaching the traffic lights with the A556 Chester Road. Turn left towards Chester and Northwich and follow this road, passing the Northwich turning. Continue ahead through Gadbrook traffic lights passing Roberst Bakery on your left, taking the next left signposted A533 to Middlewich to the next roundabout. Take the third exit, continue along the A533 to the next roundabout and turn left again signposted Bostock Green. Proceed through the hamlet of Bostock and after a short distance Bostock Hall will be seen on your left. As you approach the drive the wrought iron gates will open automatically. Once in to the grounds follow the road round towards the main Hall where Platts Hall will then be seen on your left entered by its own wrought iron gates after the walled garden.
