" Roast Farm is Grade II Listed, believed to date back to the C17th, of timber framed construction with rendered elevations under a tiled roof. In recent years, the property has been substantially extended to provide spacious accommodation but still retains many fine features including superb inglenook fireplaces and a wealth of exposed timbers. The front door entrance leads through to a reception area which leads off to the sitting and family rooms. There is an inner hall/study area with a vaulted ceiling leading off to the original old dairy, a bathroom and cloakroom and then to a ground floor bedroom and additional study. The kitchen/breakfast room has under-floor heating, a brick fireplace with recess for cooking range and twin French doors leading out to the gardens. There is an extensive range of base and wall cabinets with work surfaces, tiled splash surrounds and a butler sink. The first floor is accessed via two staircases; the new oak staircase leads to the master bedroom suite with delightful country views and en suite bathroom. There are 4 further bedrooms to the original part of the house overlooking the front gardens; 2 with fitted wardrobes.
Outside, the property is set back from the road and stands in grounds of approx. 3.5 acres with a mixture of formal gardens - principally laid to lawn, meadow and paddock land. There is an abundance of mature trees including ash, sycamore, oak and other species, together with established hedgerows, two ancient ponds and an attractive brick and flint wall to the front of the property. There is an open-bay cartlodge (approx. 19ft x 17ft) and an additional storeroom.Directions

From Saffron Walden take the B1052 Newport Road, turning left onto the B1038 into the village of Newport. Proceed through the village and with the Village Stores on your left turn right - signposted to Clavering and Buntingford. Proceed into Clavering, turning right at The Cricketers Public House - taking the first turning left into Stickling Green. Follow the road round to the Clavering Mills, turning right and continue on to the Langley Lower Green road and Roast Green will be found on the right hand side. "
