" Hillside is a pretty 17th century detached cottage, originally built of a timber frame but now having brick and part rendered elevations under a slate tile roof. The property is not listed and offers lovely views over the village green. Accommodation on the ground floor comprises a family room/study with stable door to the rear garden, a cosy sitting room with an inglenook fireplace with oak bressumer, bread oven and exposed timbers and a dining room with open brick fireplace with tiled hearth. Steps lead down to the kitchen which has a vaulted ceiling and is fitted with an excellent range of wall and base units with wooden worktops incorporating a ceramic one-and-a-half bowl sink unit, integrated Smeg dishwasher, a Kenwood electric cooking range and space for a large fridge-freezer. A door leads to the rear lobby/utility room which is fitted with a range of wall and base units incorporating a butler sink with wooden worktops, cupboard housing the water tank and electric heating system and a cloakroom. The first floor offers 3 good size bedrooms with views over the green; one has fitted wardrobes, and there is a luxurious family bathroom with a white suite comprising a spa bath, low level WC, wash basin, large shower cubicle, tiled flooring, heated towel rail, down-lighting and Velux windows.
Outside, steps lead up to the walled front garden which is mainly laid to lawn with well stocked floral borders. The rear garden measures approximately 35ft wide x 23ft deep and has a split level paved patio with circular dining area, a side access, raised lawned area with floral borders, outside lighting and a water tap. The property is within easy walking distance of Audley End Railway Station.Directions

From Saffron Walden take the B1052 towards Wendens Ambo. At the junction/roundabout with Sparrows Hill turn right onto the B1383 and proceed a short way along. Take the left hand turn - B1039 - signposted Wendens Ambo/Audley End Station. Once in the village continue along with the cricket green on your left hand side then follow the sharp bend to the left and down the hill, taking the next turning on the left - Church Path. The property is the first cottage on the left hand side. "
