Storrington, four miles away, has a further range of shops, restaurants, banks and a Post Office. The medieval towns of Petworth and Arundel, famed for their annual arts festivals are six miles in either direction. Roman remains are found nearby at Bignor and Hardham while more ancient sites are equally close to hand at Chanctonbury and Cissbury rings, forming part of an infinite network of contemplative walking and cycle routes. Adjacent hills and plains are now producing the most highly regarded of the new English sparkling wines as well as organic meats and vegetables, sold in an impressive network of local vintners and farm shops. The coastal city of Chichester with its internationally renowned galleries and theatres is 14 miles away and Brighton is also accessible at 18 miles.
