" Superb example of an art deco family house, situated in Patcham Old Village with local shops, easy access to central Brighton and the A23 and A27 and mainline station.

This unusual house was designed in 1934 for S J Middleton in the controversial ?Bauhaus? or ?International Style? by S B Cathcart, who later became Deputy Borough Architect of Brighton. It was and remains quite unlike any other house in the road, having white rendered external walls, odd shaped windows and a large terrace from main bedroom with far reaching views.

In 1968, local architects Felce & Guy were commissioned to design a further storey of accommodation giving an extra bedroom, bathroom and triple aspect studio with adjoining terrace. The intention was to restore the house in the spirit of the ?International Style?. The process involved extensive renovation, internally and externally and resulted in a superb example of a re-modelled art deco family house.
