The Property
This impressive Grade II Listed home is understood to have
originally comprised a barn that was subsequently extended with 2
unusual semi-circular bays to the north & south elevation by
Huguenot lace makers exiled from France in the 18th Century. The
building was subsequently extended in the early 19th Century to the
east & west giving the property its Cruciform shape. The Roundhouse
stands within the centre of its original circular plot with gardens
and grounds extending to just under one acre which are a particular
feature of the property. Internally the accommodation is
exceptionally spacious and is accessed via a large reception hall
with built in storage cupboard and under floor safe. Set within the
original section of the property is the impressive drawing room and
separate dining room. These rooms feature high ceilings with
exposed ceiling beams and semi-circular bay windows overlooking the
gardens to front & rear. The dining room also features a smaller
semi-circular bay to the side whilst the drawing room has a free
standing Castlemonte Italian wood burning stove with ceramic
inserts upon a slate hearth.
