The Property
This impressive Grade II Listed home is understood to have originally comprised a barn that was subsequently extended with 2 unusual semi-circular bays to the north & south elevation by Huguenot lace makers exiled from France in the 18th Century. The building was subsequently extended in the early 19th Century to the east & west giving the property its Cruciform shape. The Roundhouse stands within the centre of its original circular plot with gardens and grounds extending to just under one acre which are a particular feature of the property. Internally the accommodation is exceptionally spacious and is accessed via a large reception hall with built in storage cupboard and under floor safe. Set within the original section of the property is the impressive drawing room and separate dining room. These rooms feature high ceilings with exposed ceiling beams and semi-circular bay windows overlooking the gardens to front & rear. The dining room also features a smaller semi-circular bay to the side whilst the drawing room has a free standing Castlemonte Italian wood burning stove with ceramic inserts upon a slate hearth.
