Whilst enjoying village living , it is also a practical location within close proximity of the wide ranging facilities of the seaside resort of Weymouth and the county town of Dorchester four miles in either direction . Weymouth, Dorchester and Upwey itself all have stations on the main line to London Waterloo. There is also a regular bus service locally and a popular cafe, The Wishing Well.

Upwey railway station is nearby with links into London, along with excellent bus routes to Weymouth and Dorchester town centres. Further along the Dorchester Road is a supermarket and secondary school.
