Description

"A superb Grade II listed family home a short drive from Beaminster, with excellent outbuildings offering great potential a delightful garden, and stunning far reaching views.

THE PROPERTY
Situated in a prominent position a short drive from the centre of the popular and picturesque market town of Beaminster, first glimpses of Storridge Farmhouse are most impressive with its attractive facade constructed of local stone under a pitched thatched roof. Justifiably Grade II listed of architectural and historical importance, the property was built in the early 17th century and has recently undergone a fastidious programme of works resulting in an attractive family home with a perfect juxtaposition of old and new.
On first entering the property there is a real sense of charm, space, and light, with many rooms and features worth a special mention.
The family kitchen is superb and a very good size for a property of this type, with plenty of room for a large kitchen table. Incorporating a number of pretty kitchen units, and a four door Aga red . There are elevated views over the gardens and countryside beyond and direct access to the newly laid paved terrace, ideal for al fresco dining or a morning coffee.
Alongside the kitchen is a large boot dog room and utility room which could perhaps be further extended into the storeroom next door, subject to planning. There is indeed scope for further development and extension, not least into the incredible outbuildings.
Situated next to the fabulous kitchen is the perfectly proportioned sitting room with an inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove, exposed wooden beams, and a lovely window seat. There are huge flagstone floors and very good ceiling height. Original stone steps lead down to the hall and cloakroom, which then leads perfectly into a more formal elegant drawing room with a fabulous Ham stone fireplace, wood burning stove, stone mullion windows, and large flagstone flooring. There are two separate studies at this end of the house, one would make a fantastic TV snug room, and the other an artist s studio, such is the huge flexibility of this property.
The bedrooms are situated on the first floor, which can be annexed off with two separate staircases. To one side are the principal bedrooms, with the fantastic main bedroom, landing, and a second bedroom, bathroom, and dressing room. A lockable door leads to the three wonderful guest rooms with truly fantastic and sizeable rooms and a separate shower room. The views from this floor are even more spectacular.

OUTSIDE
The gardens perfectly wrap around the house with the main garden at the rear. To the front is a lawn enclosed by a hedge and there is a path to the front door. To the east of the house is the yard with ample parking and access to one end to a fine stone barn providing covered parking. The other end of the barn is used for storage but would subject to consent potentially provide further ancillary accommodation. To the north is an old farmyard, now a walled and cobbled garden, with a range of single storey outbuildings and pretty stone wall, with a gateway opening out to the paddock which falls gently from the garden and overlooks the glorious valley below. On the western boundary is a large kitchen garden. There are many places in this garden to sit and enjoy this most tranquil location.

All in all, this is a truly wonderful family property in an idyllic yet very convenient location.

LOCATION
Storridge Farmhouse lies just 1.2 miles from Beaminster, one of the most sought after locations in the area. This vibrant, attractive market town has an excellent range of facilities including a butcher, baker, post office, chemist, hardware store, convenience stores, greengrocers, two doctors surgeries, veterinary surgery, independent gift and tea shops, restaurants, three public houses, a hotel and leisure facilities.
