Description

"Impressive listed Grade I village house with medieval origins, wonderfully proportioned rooms and mature landscaped gardens.

Description

Tintinhull Court is Grade I listed and was originally built as a medieval parsonage for the Church of St Margaret. The house has medieval origins, although remodelled in 1678, 1777 and 1927 and has predominantly Ham stone elevations under a slate roof.

The house was originally known as The Parsonage, up until the 19th Century although it ceased to function as such in 1529. The court has wonderfully proportioned rooms perfect for entertaining and includes a winter drawing room, summer drawing room and first floor drawing room as well as a family kitchen positioned next to the dining room. With up to eight bedrooms, two dressing rooms and six bath shower rooms, plus ancillary accommodation, there is ample and flexible accommodation for any incoming purchaser and is ideally setup for a large number of family members and guests.

The court exudes a great deal of character with attractive flagstone and oak flooring complemented with ornate wall panelling dating from the 17th century. Along with the elegant cornicing, including a 14th century wooden carved ceiling in the library, intricate details such as beautiful window seats and fireplaces add to the court s charm. The library with its carved ceiling is particularly intriguing as it is incorporated within a hidden hall with circular staircase. The court has a presence of history but also feels like a family home and its large windows create a lot of light.

Outside
Tintinhull Court has attractive landscaped gardens in keeping with the court s stature. The main entrance is from St Margaret s Road with a stone pillared entrance and electronically operated gates leading to a circular gravelled driveway with central flower bed.

The front garden is enclosed by high Ham stone walls and has well stocked beds and borders. The driveway gives access to a detached three car garage and a pedestrian opening and pathway leads to the southern side of the property with yew hedging enclosing a terraced lawned garden. The principal lawns are adjacent to this area with a splendid beech tree and all weather tennis court. To the rear of the house is a flagstone terrace overlooking a symmetrical ornamental pond surrounded by flower and shrub beds. A beech hedge screens a small orchard and kitchen garden with greenhouse and oak framed garage. Beyond this is a paddock with separate access to Church Street.

In all the grounds extend to circa 2 acres.
