Architecture & Interior
The house was built in the late 1800s when Hastings and St Leonards were regarded as incredibly fashionable towns to live in. These lovely seaside towns have undergone a renaissance and are again thought to be the most sought after seaside locations, close to London and particularly valued amongst people working in the creative industries who seek out the cool vibe and the continual round of creative events in the town. Hastings also enjoys the acclaimed independent restaurants, pubs and cafes, The Hastings Contemporary Gallery, independent shops and of course the seaside and nearby countryside.

Built for the daughter of a wealthy businessman for what was at the time a very generous budget, Baytree House created a signature property for the area. Many elements of the original period features remain including stately fireplaces, decorative mouldings in the reception rooms, arched windows with views across the private lawns and a very grand wooden staircase which spans four storeys.

Baytree House has adapted to many different circumstances since it was first visualised as a deeply impressive home around 150 years ago. The property would now make the most incredible home or multi generational home. It could house a business the property is currently run as a family hotel and there is a licensed bar in the lower ground floor, adjacent to a huge room which might once have been the ballroom.

The property has off street parking to the front for several cars and a sweeping carriage drive with a garage to one side.

In The Neighbourhood
Hastings town centre and Hastings Old Town is within an easy walk from the house as is St Leonards. The beach is a 10 minute walk from the house. Baldslow Road is a quiet road with on street parking. The beautiful sweep of Alexandra Park can be reached via a private path from the house and opens across 109 acres and links the top of the town to the town centre with designated areas for dog walkers, non dog walkers, tennis players, caf seekers, playground users and fishers. The Park is famed for its arboretum one of the best in the UK. The Park was named for Alexandra, one of the daughters of Queen Victoria and has retained its Green Flag status since 2005.

Everything is close at hand from the independent shops, galleries and cinemas of St Leonards, the convenience of the shopping in the centre of the Town and the charm of Hastings Old Town.
St Leonards and Hastings continue to thrive as hubs for creative thinkers and the number of independent shops, galleries, restaurants and bars also grows. Within easy reach of the house are all the facilities that make living in this seaside town so attractive.

The whole area is known for its inclusive and accommodating style and for many years now people from all parts of the creative industries have made this charming seaside town their home or second home.

Transport and Connections
Hastings Station is a short walk from Baldslow Road, which connects with trains to London Victoria, London Charing Cross, London Bridge and Waterloo East as well as, via a change at Ashford the high speed connection to Kings Cross St Pancras International. Brighton, Eastbourne, Gatwick Airport and Ashford International are all easy to access direct by train.

London is around 90 minutes drive from Hastings.
