Mount Stores in Pleshey holds historical significance as part of the ancient motte and bailey castle that once stood there. The castle, with its large motte mound and surrounding bailey inner courtyard , was a prominent feature of Pleshey for centuries. The castle itself was eventually demolished, but the motte and the 15th century red brick bridge remain.
