The regional centre of Barnstaple offers top high street names and independent stores boutiques. There is also a leisure centre and indoor tennis centres, a branch line railway station and regional hospital. The A361 gives access to the M5 at Tiverton.

Directions to find
From Braunton At the crossroad traffic lights in the centre of Braunton, continue straight along the A361 and follow this road until the Mullacott roundabout. At the roundabout take the 1st exit. Continue towards the centre of Woolacombe, down to the bottom of the hill. Turn right onto Sandy Lane which is the first right after Byron Apartments. Proceed up the hill and turn right into Springfield Road. The Southover Apartments will be found on the left hand side.
