Description

"A charming, two double bedroom period home, with a contemporary kitchen extension, occupying a lovely position close to Taunton Town Centre. The house was originally built circa 1850 and has been loved and enjoyed by the current owners since 2022. You enter through the front door into the entrance hall, with stairs rising to the first floor and doors opening to the principal reception rooms.

The living room is situated at the front of the house and has an attractive original fireplace with marble style mantel piece surround. There is a bay window to the front aspect, with a shallow window seat. The room has benefited from the retention of the cornicing, tasteful panelling, a bespoke shelving and exposed original wooden floorboards.

The Owners Love The current owners bought this as their first home. They particularly loved the two good sized bedrooms . They will mostly miss the spacious and bright kitchen area which they have loved as an entertaining space when they have friends and family over. They have also loved the location being just a stone throw from the town centre. They added to have two parking spaces off road in a period house in the middle of town was a massive selling point for us .

The dining room is located at the centre of the house and has again benefitted from the retention of the fireplace, which is a natural focal point. There is an under stairs cupboards providing useful storage and an opening to the kitchen wide enough for double doors, as well as a serving hatch with feature lighting. The kitchen is situated at the rear of the house and has been extended to create a wonderful, bright open space with a contemporary glass roof and French doors opening to the garden. It is fitted with variety of fitted wall and base units with work surfaces over and inset sink and drainer. There is space for range of appliances including; 900mm cooker with extraction hood over, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge freezer.

Upstairs, on the first floor landing, there is an airing cupboard, which houses the gas combi boiler and doors opening to the bedrooms and bathroom. The master bedroom is an excellent size and benefits from a window to the front aspect, a built in cupboard and bespoke fitted wardrobe. The second bedroom has a window to the rear aspect overlooking the rear garden and is again a good size. The bathroom has a window to the rear aspect, is partially tiled and fitted with a four piece suite including WC, washbasin, walk in shower and a corner bath.

George Loves I love the original features and characterful charm this property has! I also was really impressed by the contemporary glass roof in the kitchen, which with the south facing rear aspect, is a really good space that enjoys loads of natural light. The owners have finished the house with real taste and style, and really presents this as a standout house of its kind!

Outside, to the rear of the property there is a courtyard garden, laid initially to decking, which leads onto a small area of lawn. The garden is enclosed by walled and fenced borders and has a timber shed at the bottom of the garden. It enjoys a south facing aspect and is a lovely spot to enjoy a bite to eat or drink in the sunshine on a nice summer s day. To the front of the property, there is a driveway, laid to chippings, providing off road parking for two vehicles.
