***Vendor‘s comments:*** "e;When we first entered the
house, we were immediately impressed by the tall ceilings and how
bright the rooms were, especially the living room with its large
front-facing window. The size of the house also took us by
surprise—it is so much bigger than what you would imagine. But what
really sealed the deal was the private garden. As soon as we
stepped out and saw the space, we fell in love. It was very
overgrown back then, and we have since tamed the jungle and added
decking at the back. It is the perfect place for BBQs or just to
relax when the weather is nice.
We‘ve lived at the house for nearly 6 years and would have loved
to have stayed a lot longer if circumstances were different.
Although it hasn‘t worked out for us, I know that it will make a
wonderful home for someone andor their family. Sadly, we are
separating. If we weren‘t, we wouldn‘t sell this house, as it has
so much space and potential, and we also love the area, as well as
its ease of getting to work and travel into central London. While
living at the property, we have worked hard to make it our home,
giving it our own touches and adding a new bathroom, kitchen,
boiler, and decking in the garden. It is in the perfect place to
move straight in and enjoy, giving the new owner time to decide how
they want to make it their own.
We always toyed with the idea of extending the property further,
as there is ample garden space to extend into and not compromise
the garden space. In hindsight, we regret not extending.
While we never had children (unless you count the cat!), we did
always think that Oakfield Road was the perfect place to raise or
start a family, as there is a nursery a few doors down, a park a
short walk away, and a secondary school one road over. There is
also so much space in the house or garden for children to be able
to run around and play. As I have type 1 diabetes, being close to
the hospital, pharmacy, and GP surgery has been hugely beneficial.
It is also a short walk to Sainsbury‘s and Lidl, and there are
multiple gyms to choose from within a short walking distance. We
have spent many fun evenings at East Croydon‘s Boxpark, enjoying
the range of food and great activities on offer. There are also so
many shops in the town centre, along with restaurants and bars. I
especially love going to Wandle Park for a run or walk. Within a
short bus journey away is Streatham Leisure Centre, where I enjoyed
taking ice skating lessons as a new hobby. Oakfield Road is the
perfect place to get into London, with fast train links to London
Bridge, Victoria, Clapham Junction, and Balham (Northern Line) from
both West and East Croydon. There is also a line to Highbury and
Islington at West Croydon and so many options from East Croydon,
including lines to Brighton and Southampton.
I am going to miss our home so much, but especially the garden
and easy links to London. I will miss filling vases with homegrown
flowers throughout the year, from the multiple rose buses to the
Dahlias that I planted that are still flowering in October. It is a
home that feels safe, private, and secluded, which is such a
special thing for a property in London."e;
