Description

" Stylish, elegant and beautiful ground floor apartment extending to 1481 square feet, with its own private entrance, superb communal gardens, cellar, ample off road parking and garage

Comment from Robert Reed of Gascoigne Halman

This unique and special apartment forms part of a tranquil, private and little known development within Whitegate village, comprising just nine apartments in total.

What differentiates this development from others is the generous parking arrangement, access to private cellar and perhaps most significantly the garage workshop.

It is also pleasing to note the beautiful gardens, which are shared between all the residents. The present owner has been assiduous in renewing the legal arrangements and accordingly this apartment has 205 years remaining on the lease. In addition, when compared to other developments of a similar style, the management charge, which presently stands at £102 per month offers very good value.

Apartment 6 is a much enjoyed home, has substantial character and is impeccably presented throughout. I particularly love the large room sizes, the drawing room measuring 21‘6 x 15‘10 the breakfast kitchen 18‘11 x 14‘11 whilst the smallest bedroom is a very large double at 14‘11 x 12‘9 .

Through recent years, the apartment has been upgraded, with works including an electrical rewire, significant replastering and restoration of the original sash windows. Within the really appealing kitchen is a long 16th Century butler‘s pantry wall unit that is the focal point of this room and is suggested to have had history at both Peckforton Castle and the Duke of Westminster Estate. Regardless of its history, it‘s a stunning piece to look at!

The apartment oozes character and features include 17th Century cornices and interior doors, bay windows, ceiling mouldings and modern yet newly sympathetic period style decorative cast iron radiators.

Daleford Manor is a local building of significant history and interest. The property lies on the outskirts of Whitegate Village with its origins stretching back to the 16th Century. The property is reputed to have been visited by King Charles II whilst indulging in country pursuits. Close inspection of the building evidences a Tudor style exterior from the back of the manor whilst the front elevation has been extended and adapted over the years. In the late 18th, 19th and early 20th Centuries Daleford Manor was converted into a Gentlemans‘ Club. Coming to the present day, Daleford Manor was further extended and now incorporates nine apartments of which the subject property is by a substantial margin the largest and has many excellent features including its own private entrance.
