Description

" This charming detached 1920s family home is in an excellent location as it is just a short walk into the centre of Ryde and is near good local schools. At the same time, it is an easy commute with a regular catamaran and hovercraft ferry service to the mainland. The property was previously owned by a builder who extended and updated the 1920s property so it now provides modern and spacious accommodation. It is set back from the road and includes a forecourt that provides off road parking for three cars and leads to the integral garage and the attractive period front door.

The ground floor includes a useful ‘sitting room' with a charming box bay window that could always become an office as it is just inside the front door so business guests wouldn't have to enter the private part of the home. There are multi-pane glazed double doors to a large, dual aspect loungedining area with fitted shelving, bi-folding doors to the terrace and a wall of windows at the dining end, giving you the feeling that you are virtually eating outdoors all the time.

The good-sized kitchen includes a range cooker and a central island breakfast bar as well as an array of units housing a fridge freezer and a dishwasher. This floor also has a utility room and a cloakroom while off the galleried landing on the first floor you will find the modern family bathroom and three double bedrooms including the main bedroom with its box bay window and a trendy en suite shower room.

Outside there is a lovely rear terrace with steps down to the easy-to-maintain garden with its lawn and shrub borders.

What the Owner says:

We bought this house about 18 months ago as we loved the location with its closeness to the town centre and to local schools for the children. Also, it was delightful that the previous owner had modernised it to the extent that all we had to do was move in. However, our lives are now taking a different path so we hope it will be enjoyed by a new family.

Ryde is the largest town on the island and close to the hovercraft and ferry for easy access to the mainland. It is delightful seaside resort with its charming Victorian properties, vast range of eclectic independent shops, restaurants and bars and, unlike some other areas on the island, it is a hive of activity all year round. It includes a cinema and has a variety of annual events such as the annual carnival and the International Classic Car Show. It also has some charming places to visit such as Newton Estuary where you will be able to experience the varied habitats of the Isle of Wight's only National Nature Reserve.
