Waterside Property.
Description The Unique outlook from the rear of the house takes in the River Arrow to the trees and countryside beyond. The wider rural area is characterised by hedge lined lanes culminating in destination villages with gastro pubs and ?Old England? personified; providing a mix of locations for a rewarding respite following a relaxed country stroll.
Arrow Bridge, under the custodianship of the current owners, has evolved into a versatile family home with some six double bedrooms, five with en-suites and one of which forms part of an integral one bedroom ground floor apartment with a separate kitchen/living space ideal for guests or an extended family. The impressive lounge has a magnificent inglenook fireplace with gas coal fire and a double aspect taking full advantage of the open outlook towards the riverside. The frontage is adorned by an impressive brick pillared entrance with gates leading onto a wide paved driveway offering access to the integral Garage.
Situated across the River Arrow from the garden at Arrow Bridge is a superb extra piece of land which the vendors would consider selling by separate negotiation and only in addition to the purchase of Arrow Bridge. Currently accessed over the road bridge and adjacent to the property,
you enter the 4.2 acres through a five bar gate and large hard-core standing area. The land has been used for various activities and storage over the years and is a great favorite area when the grandchildren come to stay. Over the years there have been buildings added and the area currently houses a large residential storage barn, separate storage shed, a lovely natural pond, electric supply and even a superb tree house in an old oak tree. The land stretches along the side of the River Arrow and a bridge could easily be constructed to join the garden at Arrow Bridge to the land across the river creating a unique and idyllic feature to the family home.
Waterside Property Seller Insight 'The plot was originally purchased in the 1960s by the famous fisherman Terry Thomas and he, along with his Canadian wife, designed the original bungalow. The 2017 Arrow Bridge is very different to that version and is now a 5 bedroom 5 bathroom dormer bungalow with a separate annexe incorporating its own
double bedroom, wet room, kitchen and living area and is ideal for multi generation living, whilst having the benefit of independent access.?
?The centre of Alvechurch is around a 20-minute walk and has all of the amenities we need including an optician, doctor, dentist, delicatessen, caf? and shops. We?re ideally located for easy access to the motorways and the airport and Birmingham Bullring is 10 miles away. We like to spend time in London with our children and the International train station is just 12 miles away up the M42 and from there, we can be in London in 1 hour 15 minutes.?
?There are lots of things to do locally including days out in Stratford upon Avon and the Cotswolds. Closer to home, is Arrow Valley Lakes with cycle tracks, walks, fishing and sailing. The canal is ? of a mile up the road and we enjoy walking along the towpaths, to the pubs for something to eat and drink. We have lots of lovely local parks and the leisure centre has a pool, gym and lots of classes. There is also a golf course 4 minutes drive up the road, so there are plenty of options to keep fit indoors and outdoors.?
?The house is elevated from the river and we?ve never had any risk of flooding. The garden is easy to maintain and it?s a tranquil setting with the woodland and wildflower meadow to the rear of the property. It?s been a happy home with lots of fun and laughter.?
?Our children love coming back and we can easily accommodate them as we have enough bedrooms with their own en-suites On these occasions the family enjoys sitting around the kitchen table and chatting whilst the AGA keeps us all toasty warm. In the big lounge, it?s always very cosy and is festive at Christmas with the fire in the inglenook and the large Christmas tree.?
?If we?ve had a stressful day at work, we come home in the summer and head down to the decking by the river. We relax on the loungers and watch the Kingfishers whilst the fish jump out of the water, to catch the insects. The riverside setting has been a lovely part of our life here. Our children had a little boat when they were young and would play in the river, which isn?t very deep at this part, it was very Swallows and Amazons!?
?We have celebrated lots of special events here, including significant birthdays, engagements and even a wedding! There?s plenty of space at the front of the house for parking which has always been very useful.?
?It?s an idyllic setting and we will miss it a great deal. We have doors in the master bedroom leading out to a large balcony where weekends in the summer, we often have our breakfast and read the papers. The house is set in a nice, typical English country lane and yet we have the benefit of all main services. We get on well with our neighbours and will miss them. We?re downsizing as we do not need the space now.?*
