Seller Insight 'This imposing country home, which was originally built at the turn of the century, enjoys a picturesque location on the edge of the charming village of Lapworth. ?We were living in Solihull before moving here
in 1995,? says the owner, ?but our children were quite young at the time and we were keen to find a family home with lots of space both inside and out. My husband heard that the Croft was coming up for auction, but it was in a sorry state then and the first time we came to view it there was snow coming through the roof and we had to work around with torches, but we could see that it had bags of potential.?

?The renovation process took about six months to complete, and during that time everything from the roof to the plumbing was updated, and the whole house was redecorated throughout. Initially we tried to keep the look and feel of the interior quite traditional, in keeping with the architectural style of the building, but over the years we?ve made changes here and there and I suppose our taste has become
more stripped back and has become more contemporary. It?s been a most stunning family home and I?m glad we got the opportunity to rescue it.?

?The grounds extend to around five acres and it?s been wonderful to have so much open space, particularly for the children,? continues Meg. ?We have formal gardens around the house itself, but the rest of the land has deliberately been left natural, so it?s an absolute haven for wildlife. We have two lakes and a lot of fond
memories of the long hot summers with the children messing about on the water. It really is such an idyllic place.?

?The room that we call ?the sitting room? is probably my favourite part of the house,? says Meg. ?It?s a very tranquil space and it has lovely views in both directions across the garden and down to one of the lakes.?

'The outlook is fantastic in every direction says Meg. Lapworth is a lovely village and we are spoilt for choice in terms of gastro pubs and when we need to travel further afield the transport links are excellent.
I suppose the biggest change to the house has been the addition of the bungalow says Meg. It is very spacious with its own garden and although we built it for elderly parents it would be equally perfect for grown up children or guests.'

'We have discovered over the years that the house has a great history and I?ll miss the character of the house and its outlook says Meg. It?s been a fabulous family home and I think we will all be sad to leave.'"
