"Once in a blue moon a house comes along that just looks and feels like a rare gem indeed and The Barn house is exactly one of those occasions. Steeped in village history it was converted in the 1960's to become the nursery school for Ripley Court School and subsequently became a house for the then headmaster when he retired. Today it is one of the landmark houses in the village and has been a hugely loved home for our clients over the past seven years. Around almost every corner in the house is something that adds to the absolute charm of the whole. From the vaulted ceilings with their English Elm beams, to the roaring fire in the beautifully comfy sitting room and the lovely brick terrace that overlooks the fabulous walled garden all of which makes this a home that is such a pleasure from start to finish. Downstairs three principal rooms flow very well together to create a very workable and pleasing day to day living space centered around a wonderfully light triple aspect sitting room. Here a deep bay window looks out over the stunning walled garden while a beautiful marble fireplace creates the perfect focal point to a room that is warm and cosy on winter evenings and fabulous in the summer as it opens out onto the terrace. The dining room and sitting room are linked by double doors thereby creating an ideal entertaining space while a study off the sitting room has a lovely rich woodblock floor and makes a delightful place to sit while looking out over the terrace and garden beyond. On the front of the house there is a kitchen with a lovely farmhouse feel to it, with a four oven Aga to warm it. With it's granite worktops and quarry tiled floor this really is a very pleasant place to sit and have breakfast. From the dining room a spiral staircase leads up to a beautiful landing where a vaulted ceiling, beamed with English Elm, gives an uncommon feeling of space and sets the scene for what lies beyond. The master bedroom is an absolute delight, not only as it looks out over the fabulous garden as well as the open fields beyond, but also as, like the landing, it has a very beautiful vaulted and beamed ceiling that gives the room a huge amount of warmth and character. The en suite is likewise beamed and vaulted while along the landing a second double bedroom is equally well proportioned and has the same wonderfully warm and comfortable feel that comes from the beautiful original beams that run through the whole of the first floor. Off the landing there is also a very useful dressing room and a very attractive main bathroom. All in all this is a truly delightful home of outstanding character that has been beautifully cared for by our clients who will, in many ways, be very sorry to leave."
