"A lovely double fronted, four bedroom Victorian home that has played host to only 5 families since its original construction in 1881. Built in a mellow buff coloured brick and very innovative for its day, it is of cavity wall construction. It retains many of the characteristic features associated with the period including the large central reception hall with its magnificent turned newel post and balustrade and the two front reception rooms retain their high-corniced ceilings, picture rails and open fireplaces.
Our clients have extensively yet sympathetically restored their home including the installation of bespoke hand made hardwood sash windows inset with sealed unit double-glazed panes, refitment of the kitchen/breakfast room complete with a gas fired Aga, and the creation of an en-suite shower room.
A pair of stained glass doors with a matching fanlight provides an impressive entrance into the large reception hall with it deep understairs recess and original staircase. The double aspect drawing is a lovely light and sunny room with a south facing bay window to the front and a set of French doors with shutters to the east. The open fireplace creates a focal point and complements the wealth of period features. The separate dining room is of similar proportions and also retains its bay window; open fireplace and high ceiling with plaster mouldings. This flows through into the kitchen/breakfast room that has been refitted with a range of traditional Shaker style units with beech wood work surfaces inset with ceramic hob & electric oven. In addition, to give it that homely feel, as well as providing an excellent cooking and secondary heat source is a gas fired Aga. There is ample space for a kitchen table and adjoining is a breakfast room that opens onto the garden. A useful guest cloakroom is situated next to the separate utility room that has plumbing for laundry appliances and modern gas fired central heating boiler.
To the first floor is a large landing with a south facing window affording views over the countryside opposite and access to a very large loft space that would be ideal for conversion into additional bedroom accommodation. The two principle bedrooms also enjoy the views over the meadows opposite and have fitted wardrobes and the guest suite has a newly created en-suite fitted with a modern white suite and a wet room style shower. The other two bedrooms are also doubles with the third being of a generous size and having built-in wardrobes and a sink and is double aspect. Completing the package is the large family bathroom that has been attractively appointed with a period style white suite including a separate shower cubical. Council Tax Band: G"
