SUMMARY Farringdon House is an inspiring and substantial Grade II listed property situated at the heart of the award-winning and highly sought-after village of Long Sutton. Dominating the southern edge of the village green, its magnificent and uninterrupted outlook across the green itself and views in general are guaranteed by the area's conservation status. According to English Heritage, Farringdon House forms an important part of the centre of Long Sutton which is "something of a historical 'set piece' with the former school, church and Inn set in an archetypal relationship around the village green".
. Built in 1872 on land previously owned by the Duke of Devonshire, Farringdon House was extensively and lavishly remodelled in 2000-2001 to provide a sumptuous and large family home incorporating all the comforts of 21st century living without sacrificing any of its period character. Farringdon House is also a regular subject for artists who draw and paint from the serenity of the village green.
. Farringdon House has traditional stone walls, high vaulted ceilings with exposed and beautifully shaped A-frame timbers, and large mullion windows. It is entered via an arched period front door in the castellated porch. Its five bedrooms comprise four large doubles and a small single, three of which enjoy their own en-suite bath/shower-room facilities. A fourth bathroom serves the remaining two bedrooms without en-suites. Planning permission has also been received to create a further first-floor room within the existing building, with structural timbers, floor, electrics and staircase already in place (entrance door via mezzanine to be constructed, and windows to be fitted).
. The large drawing room includes a spiral staircase leading to a mezzanine level that overlooks the drawing room below and out across the village green, and is presently used as a library and study. Further reception rooms include a separate large sitting room, large kitchen/breakfast room and a garden room.
. Occupying a plot of circa one-third of an acre, with a wide and imposing frontage, the wrap-around garden is mainly set to lawn on three sides, with plenty of trees, shrubs and flower beds throughout.
