DESCRIPTION

The White House was originally a Grade II listed cottage and is believed to be one of the oldest houses in the village. In the 1950's an adjoining garage was converted to create The White Cottage providing ancillary accommodation to the main residence. In recent years an astounding transformation has taken place and the property has been substantially extended and completely refurbished to an exceptional standard.

There is an extensive run of reception space with a wonderful kitchen forming the focal point of the living areas. The first floor accommodation is divided into two sections with dual staircases forming flexible sleeping provision.

Whilst retaining much of the period charm of the original house, including some fine timbering, the design philosophy of The White House is entirely contemporary with a modern feel and a particularly high level of appointments. There is underfloor central heating to the ground floor with the majority of the rooms having Travertine stone flooring. There is a Systemline media installation with most of the reception rooms having ceiling speakers and there is an advanced security system with cameras. The kitchen has an impressive array of appliances and either Jacuzzi or Duravit sanitaryware is fitted throughout.

ACCOMMODATION

The White House is entered through a reception hall with a wide bank of windows bathing the area in natural daylight together with ceiling downlighters and inset floor uplighters providing the night-time lighting. There is a modern cloakroom and original stone steps lead to a ventilated cellar. The drawing room is an impressive main entertaining room with a Jotul solid fuel burning stove with a glass hearth. The family/cinema room has surround sound wiring and wiring installation for a wall mounted television. There is a large study and the dining room has some lovely, scored wall and ceiling timbering with a particularly notable carved beam over the decorative fireplace. The sitting room also has some lovely timbering, a stone fireplace with Stovax solid fuel burning stove and a door to the small front hall and is a comfortable everyday living room as it links to the wonderful breakfast kitchen which has an extensive range of contemporary units with cleverly planned storage space and Corian surfaces with a large, co-ordinating centre island with an integrated breakfast table. There is a full range of Miele appliances including two ovens, two warming drawers, a microwave oven and grill, a steaming oven, a coffee machine, a dual zone-chiller, a dishwasher, a larder fridge and a fridge freezer. The ground floor accommodation is completed by a useful laundry.

A wooden staircase leads to the principal bedroom accommodation with a main bedroom suite of bedroom with a large bathroom with a superb Jacuzzi suite. There are a further two double bedrooms and a bathroom. A wooden, steel and glass balustraded staircase rises from the hall to the secondary bedroom accommodation with a second suite of bedroom and bathroom together with the fifth bedroom and shower room. Four of the bedrooms have fitted furniture.
